Eddie Rosario, a former outfielder for the Atlanta Braves, plans to remain in the NL East. According to reports, Rosario and the Washington Nationals have agreed to a split contract that may bring him up to $4 million. The initial report was provided by Daniel Alvarez-Montes of El Extra Base.
According to the agreement, Rosario will receive a base salary of $2 million should he be selected by a major league team. Incentives are there for him to earn an extra $2 million.
Eddie Rosario was acquired by the Braves in 2022 for a two-year contract worth $18 million, with a $9 million club option for the 2024 campaign. Rosario came fresh off a fantastic showing in Atlanta’s 2021 World Series run.
After having laser surgery on his eyes, he was finally shelved after struggling during his first season under the new contract. In 80 games, Rosario managed just a.212/.259/.328 slugging percentage. In 2023, Rosario batted.255/.305/.450 with 21 home runs and a 100 wRC+, regaining his league average form. However, Atlanta decided not to exercise the 2024 option because of this, and he became a free agent in early November.
