Charlton Athletic manager Nathan Jones praised Daniel Kanu and Tyreeq Bakinson following his team’s latest victory.
Charlton Athletic triumphed 3-1 away to Cheltenham Town Wednesday night, boosting their League One survival chances.
Kanu and Bakinson both scored for the Addicks against the Robins, while striker Alfie May also netted against his previous team.
According to the official club website, Jones stated after the game that Daniel Kanu was a menace all night and continued to be so. I’m happy for Tyreeq [Bakinson] because we left him out over the weekend, and he came back in and scored.”
Jones has made an excellent first impression at Charlton, and his team has been in good form since he took over from Michael Appleton.
The former Luton Town and Southampton manager has only lost once in his first seven games.
The Addicks have improved to 14th in the table, seven points ahead of the drop zone with nine games remaining.
Kanu, 19, has been a revelation since Jones took over at The Valley, and his new boss has showed great faith in him.
The highly regarded youth has a promising future in the game and is now enjoying plenty of game time in the third tier, which will help him grow.
Bakinson has had to be patient since joining Charlton in January from Sheffield Wednesday. He was brought in to provide additional competition and depth in their midfield section.
His goal against Cheltenham should give him the confidence to push on and have a successful finish to the season.
The Addicks return to play this weekend, hosting Carlisle as they try to maintain their momentum and move further away from the bottom four.
