It was always believed that the Los Angeles Rams would have a terrible season in 2023, but they shocked everyone by winning, and now they have an immediate future that nobody could have predicted last summer.
With seven straight victories to close up the regular season, they were on a roll and had a scare going against the Detroit Lions in the wild-card round.
According to Adam Schefter, the Rams re-signed offensive tackle Kevin Dotson on Thursday to a lucrative three-year deal worth $48 million, taking a big step toward ongoing success in 2024.
According to Pro Football Focus, Dotson started all 14 of the games he played in during the 2023 season and gave up just four sacks in 881 snaps.
Given that quarterback Matthew Stafford is getting older and could be getting brittle from all the wear and strain he has received, Los Angeles’ offensive line is a cause for concern.
He had a season marred by injuries in 2022, but in 2023 he showed signs of improvement, throwing for 3,965 yards and 24 touchdowns but only completing 62.6 percent of his pass attempts.
Puka Nacua, who just finished an incredible rookie season, is another veteran Cooper Kupp, who was selected to the All-Pro First Team in 2021 and was a Pro Bowl player, for Stafford to throw the ball to.
Furthermore, in just his second NFL season (2023), running back Kyren Williams developed into a Pro Bowl player.
Though it might be premature and overly optimistic to predict the Rams to win the NFC West this autumn and winter, they should have a strong chance of returning to the postseason.
