Breaking News: Rams Just Confirm Contract Extension For Youngest Experienced Player

On Thursday, right guard Kevin Dotson reached an agreement to sign a three-year contract extension to remain with the Los Angeles Rams.

Dotson, who the Rams acquired from Pittsburgh during training camp, developed into one of the league’s best guards and a key component of their offense last season. The agreement is anticipated to be valued at $48 million.

In his first season with the Rams, Dotson—a 2022 fourth-round selection by the Steelers out of Louisiana—consistently received high marks from Pro Football Focus and other analysts, ranking among the league’s finest interior offensive lineman.

The Rams’ offense had a significant uptick thanks to Dotson and rookie left guard Steve Avila. They went from 25th to 11th in the NFL in yards running while only allowing 2.0 sacks per game from Matthew Stafford, who was sacked 3.2 times per game in 2022.

Dotson was an excellent run-blocker for the Rams, who finished 10-7 and qualified for the playoffs the next season after finishing 5-12. He also only committed two penalties.

Sending two Day 3 selection picks and two additional Day 3 draft choices to Pittsburgh in exchange for the guard, Los Angeles gave up nearly nothing for Dotson. For the Steelers, Dotson primarily played left guard; Isaac Seumalo was the primary guard.

This summer, Dotson and safety Jordan Fuller were anticipated to be the Rams’ most notable unrestricted free agents.
