Josh Heupel, the head coach of the Tennessee Volunteers, shared his opinions on how his team will be impacted going forward by the expanded College Football Playoff. Josh Heupel, the head coach of Tennessee, keeps making remarks in the offseason about the potential of this program, even though he isn’t at the podium every week analyzing how the Vols performed against their most recent opponent. Heupel appeared on the University of Tennessee’s “Everything Orange” podcast to discuss the next team, future plans for the building, and other topics. The College Football Playoffs’ growth was one of the main subjects he often brought up. Twelve teams will qualify for the field starting in 2024, up from four in the previous format. Heupel stated that they anticipate being in the running for postseason spots each and every season due to the field opening up much more. Since enrolling in the university, he has insisted that he has the means to go there, and the building has set it as the standard. “I am thrilled about who we are, what we have inside this building, and the chance we have to keep developing. Though I’m also enthusiastic about who we are inside this building and Tennessee’s program’s chance to contend for those spots each year, I’ll be very excited when we get to fall and start kicking off the football.” – Josh Heupel regarding the College Football Playoff’s expansion
