The New York Giants are receiving a small amount of payback for their actions toward Saquon Barkley.
The veteran safety Jalen Mills is being signed by the Giants, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Tuesday. They and the 29-year-old Mills have come to an agreement on a one-year contract.
Mills had spent the previous three seasons as a member of the New England Patriots. However, in 2016 he was picked by the Philadelphia Eagles, a rival team, and made his debut in the 2017 season when Philly won Super Bowl LII.
With Mills switching from cornerback to safety in recent years and slowly losing playing time with the Pats, his ceiling isn’t as high as it once was. However, he might wind up leading the Giants secondary as an experienced player after they lost a vital player to the Green Bay Packers in free agency.
