John Simpson, a four-year NFL guard who started at left guard for the Ravens last season and was a major factor in their offensive success, has signed a free agent contract with the Jets.
In the 2020 NFL Draft, Las Vegas selected Simpson (6-4, 330) out of Clemson in the fourth round (109th overall). He was a member of the Raiders for his first three seasons, starting every game in 2021 and participating in 35 games (21 starts) from ’21 to ’23.
In December 2022, Simpson was released by the Raiders.He was added to the Ravens practice squad ten days later, and following the season, they signed him to a reserve/future contract. Once again, he finished the season with 17 starts in a row, this time as Baltimore’s LG. With 1,119 offensive snaps overall, he led the Ravens offense, and he added another 124 in two playoff starts.
He gave quarterback Lamar Jackson two sacks on those offensive plays during the regular season.
