On Wednesday night, the Golden State Warriors trounced the Memphis Grizzlies 137-116. The Warriors defeated the Grizzlies 2-1 in the season series. Golden State ended a three-game home losing slide to climb to 18-18 at home.
In the second quarter, the score was deadlocked at 58 points. The Warriors then went on a 22-0 run to take an 80-58 advantage. Memphis dropped to 23-47 on the season after losing their fourth straight game, and they are now officially out of the running for the playoffs.
At 10th in the Western Conference, Golden State is still battling for a postseason spot and the opportunity to participate in the Play-In Tournament.
Memphis was commanded by Aldama and the Jacksons. A career-high 35 points, five rebounds, and three assists were recorded by GG Jackson II.
A career-high seven 3-pointers were also made by Jackson, making him the youngest player in NBA history to do so (19 years, 94 days).
Jackson II is currently having one of his finest scoring seasons of the year, having scored 19 points or more in six straight games. The rookie out of South Carolina has cemented himself as a starter for the final games of the regular season.
Following the game, Chris Paul of the Warriors had positive things to say about the 19-year-old.
With four rebounds, three assists, and 28 points in the end, Jaren Jackson Jr.
The 24-year-old center has scored 25 points or more in five of the nine games played since the All-Star break.
With 60 games played thus far this season, Jackson Jr. averages 22.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.1 steals.
In addition, Santi Aldama finished with 27 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals.
Memphis’ reserves were outscored 63-20 by the Warriors bench.
The Grizzlies only had three fast-break points, compared to Golden State’s twenty.
Memphis was outscored 62–46 by the Warriors when they scored in the paint.
The Grizzlies only had 29 assists, while Golden State had a season-high 43.
Memphis was limited to 43 percent from the field and 36 percent from beyond the arc while the Warriors shot 58 percent from the field and 48 percent from 3-point range.
