SAD NEWS: Large-Scale Injury Update From The Atlanta Hawks

Onyeka Okongwu, the center for the Atlanta Hawks, hasn’t played due to a big toe sprain and sesamoiditis. However, the Hawks have now released a significant injury update about the former sixth overall choice.

The news is enormous for Atlanta. Prior to suffering an injury during the game against Chicago one month ago, Okongwu was having a fantastic season. Although the Hawks had been hesitant to include Okongwu, he might return this evening. Though that is simply conjecture, it is also feasible that Okongwu is limited in how many minutes he may play in his first action return. It is possible that head coach Quin Snyder will clarify that prior to tonight’s Lakers game.

With Okongwu sidelined, Clint Capela and Bruno Fernando have been playing center, and Capela in particular is having the greatest game of the season right now. Although Atlanta still has a number of serious ailments, Okongwu’s return would be extremely beneficial.

AJ Griffin, Mouhamed Gueye, Kobe Bufkin, Saddiq Bey, and Trae Young are all out.

The Hawks’ unexpected performance against the Clippers Friday night came after defeats to Portland and Utah.

Against the Clippers, the Hawks’ offense was highly effective because Dejounte Murray didn’t have to attempt many shots. Although Murray has been the center of attention for the offense and has been scoring thirty to forty points a game, this has not been the most effective way to manage the offense. Murray led the team in scoring Friday night’s victory over the Clippers with 21 points and 10 assists. The level of difficulty of the Laker defense will vary based on whether Davis plays or not.

Last night, Bogdanovic scored 11 points in a fantastic second quarter, but that was the end of his game. Apart from the second quarter, he did not contribute much and departed the game late. Observe his situation.

With Bey out, Vit Krejci is still starting for the Hawks. During his tenure as a starter, Krejci has improved as a defender and is shooting 30% (4–13) from three. While De’Andre Hunter, who is performing brilliantly, splits time with Krejci, not much is expected of him.

Jalen Johnson looked great for Atlanta last night on both sides of the court after a lackluster return game.

In addition to pulling down 12 rebounds and handing out six assists, he ended with 18 points on 7 of 14 shots.

Clint Capela is expected to have another strong game tonight after recording a double-double in five straight games. Last night, he got 13 rebounds and 15 points.

Hunter, who leads the bench group, scored 20 points again yesterday night on 8 of 13 shots from the field. Since recovering from his injury, Hunter has been among the NBA’s finest bench players and has been shooting incredibly well.
