Few teams possess a more potent receiving duo than the Bucs’ Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. But how much longer will it last?
Evans, who turns 31 in August, recently inked a two-year contract. Godwin’s contract is about to expire.
The Bucs may be considering drafting a receiver because of this. According to ESPN’s Jenna Laine, a receiver is the Bucs’ third-most significant draft objective.
.. Chris Godwin is being moved inside by new offensive coach Liam Coen, and the team did select Trey Palmer in the previous draft.
The Bucs split Palmer and Thompkins in the slot, while Palmer has shown flashes of inconsistent play and is more of a vertical threat.
Even though he plays much larger than his true size, Thompkins still have certain size restrictions.
The receiver class in this year’s draft is now quite deep. Why not take a stud that falls to the Bucs? (This will, of course, appease the misinformed “best player available” crowd.)
Joe can’t wait to watch what Coen does with Trey Palmer. According to NextGen Stats from the previous year, no receiver in the game started their routes more quickly. Palmer should be able to get slant throws and run through defenses with that level of agility.Palmer’s wheels are a unique gift from God. Make use of that gift.
