Another free agent has been signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Adam Schefter reports that Cordarrelle Patterson, a running back, has agreed to a two-year contract with Pittsburgh.
According to sources, former Falcons running back Cordarrelle Patterson and the Pittsburgh Steelers agreed to a two-year contract. Patterson meets up with Arthur Smith, his previous HC.
Ian Rapaport claims that the $6 million contract is for two years.
After the Falcons selected Bijan Robinson in the first round of the draft, Patterson’s use decreased in the previous season. On the other hand, he scored eight touchdowns on the ground with the Falcons in 2022 and six in 2021.
On the same day that the NFL announced it will be implementing the XFL kickoff, which will result in a significant increase in kickoff returns, the four-time Pro Bowler signs with the Steelers. Given that Patterson has nine career touchdown kickoff returns, expect him to be employed in that capacity.
Patterson is a versatile player who can play both running back and receiver in Arthur Smith’s playbook. We have seen firsthand how much of a playmaker Patterson can be under Smith.
