Daniel Vogelbach, Ernie Clement, and Davis Schneider were notified by manager John Schneider that they had made the big-league squad on Sunday, bringing the Blue Jays one step closer to confirming their opening-day roster.
In games against right-handed pitchers, Vogelbach is anticipated to start at designated hitter, Clement is projected to be the utility infielder, and Schneider is probably going to alternate between left field and second base.
Three positions remain, one in the starting rotation and two in the bullpen, up for grabs. The Jays can reveal their 26-man roster on Thursday until 12 p.m. ET.
Kevin Gausman is predicted to start, but he still needs to overcome one obstacle. With shoulder fatigue in the past, the 33-year-old is expected to start Monday’s game against the Pirates. With luck, he’ll begin the year on schedule. He would go on the injured list if not.
Swingman Mitch White most likely has one bullpen spot, and Zach Pop and Nate Pearson are the front-runners for the other.
