Star guard Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks is getting closer to recovering from the surgery he had done on his left pinkie last month.
After being reexamined on Monday, Young will now move on to the next phase of his recovery. The Hawks say that Young will begin working on minor finger motions this week.
On February 23, during a game against the Toronto Raptors, Young tore a ligament in his finger. Four days later, he had surgery.
There is still no schedule for the three-time All-Star’s comeback. Before Wednesday’s home game against the Portland Trail Blazers, the Hawks were 8-7 without him.
Young, 25, has started all 51 games this season and averages a team-best 26.4 points and 10.8 assists.
After being chosen with the fifth overall choice in the 2018 NBA Draft, Young has appeared in 404 career games (all starts), scoring 25.6 points and dishing out 9.5 assists total.
