Manager Enzo Maresca has stated that Jamie Vardy will not be available for Sunday afternoon’s match at Stamford Bridge when Chelsea and Leicester City play in the FA Cup quarterfinal.
Recently, Vardy has been on fire. He scored two goals in the 2-2 draw with Hull City, which made them his sixth and seventh goals in the previous seven games. However, it appears that he won’t be available when the Blues take on Chelsea in an attempt to pull off an upset and win at Wembley Stadium for the second time this year.
In an effort to try and manage the 37-year-old, Leicester manager Maresca stated prior to the team’s most recent Championship games that Vardy had not been participating in training. However, the Italian has already made it clear that he has sustained a minor wound.
Vardy will be on the sidelines with full-back Ricardo Pereira and winger Kasey McAteer. “Ricky and Kasey were hurt. Jamie got hurt. We play Sunderland away, as I mentioned, and he didn’t train,” Marasca stated.
He played in the final game before suffering another injury. There are other issues, according to Leicestershire Live.
“It’s not a big issue and we have the international break,” he stated. “Kasey [McAteer] is the worst one, we are not sure if he’s back after the international break.”
Nonetheless, Wilfred Ndidi’s return is wonderful news for Leicester City. Despite missing the last two games, he has been active for the past two months. Maresca has, however, stated that as he improves, the team would exercise caution in how much he plays.
“We’re attempting to control Ndidi’s circumstances. He played 45 minutes in the final game and 25 against Sunderland. We’ll see at the game on Sunday. You have to exercise caution because so many players are hurt.”
