When the 2024 season ends, might Carson Beck become the greatest quarterback to ever play for Georgia?
Stetson Bennett left the Georgia Bulldogs as one of the most decorated athletes in the team’s illustrious history and was universally acknowledged as the best Bulldog quarterback of all time as the 2022 college football season came to an end. Two seasons later, Carson Beck might finally get his chance to truly establish himself as “The Goat.”
After taking over the Bulldogs’ offense in the 2023 season, Beck became one of the top quarterbacks in the country, throwing for 3,941 yards and 24 touchdowns while also recording the best single-season completion % of any quarterback in Georgia history. He is the clear favorite to win the Heisman Trophy in 2024 as a result of his excellent 2023 campaign. He may even be selected as the first player in the 2025 NFL Draft.
In the event that Beck wins the Heisman Trophy and is selected as the number one overall pick, and he guides the Bulldogs to yet another national championship. It will be difficult for fans to disagree that Carson Beck is the best Georgia quarterback of all time.
The Georgia Bulldogs have been closely associated with outstanding running backs, a potent running game, and exceptionally gifted running backs during the last few decades. Although there is still potential in the running back room, the Bulldogs haven’t had a 1,000-yard rusher in almost five seasons.
With 1,218 yards gained through rushes in the 2019 season, D’andre Swift became the final running back to surpass the 1,000-yard threshold. A few running backs have gone close since then, but none have been able to meet the mark.
Although some people may find this tendency concerning, there is a valid rationale behind it. With pass catchers like Brock Bowers and Ladd McConkey who possess exceptional talent, the passing game of the Bulldogs has significantly improved.
However, with the addition of new talent to the running back group, 2024 might present new potential for the Georgia attack. Many of the Bulldogs’ gifted receivers have left for the NFL, causing some roster adjustments as well. The Bulldogs may decide to somewhat alter their offensive strategy as a result of this squad upheaval.
With so much talent on the Bulldogs 2024 roster, Kirby Smart and his staff may be able to change their offensive strategy. The team obviously has the capacity to create a 1,000-yard rusher, even though it is unclear if that will happen.
