Right-hander Dinelson Lamet was added to the Los Angeles Dodgers’ active roster on Monday, marking the team’s second pitching change in as many days, according to various publications.
Lamet, 31, was invited to spring training as a non-roster invitee and signed a minor league contract by the Dodgers in the winter. This spring, over four appearances, Lamet pitched 3 2/3 innings, striking out five while giving up just one earned run.
There was no word on a matching move, and the Dodgers would also need to make room on their 40-man roster.
Right-hander Nabil Crismatt, who was called up by the Dodgers from Triple-A Oklahoma City, pitched two scoreless innings to secure the victory in the team’s 5-4 comeback victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday.
The Dodgers’ bullpen has had a demanding workload in the early going. On Friday, relievers took in five innings, on Saturday, left-hander Ryan Yarbrough recorded a three-inning save, and on Sunday, Crismatt had his longest appearance.
Left-hander James Paxton will make his Dodgers debut on Monday against the San Francisco Giants in the first game of the series. After undergoing surgery for Tommy John in 2021, Paxton is not anticipated to play extensively this season.
Lamet posted an 11.71 ERA in his meager 17 combined appearances with the Boston Red Sox and Colorado Rockies during the previous season. As a member of the San Diego Padres, he was fourth in the National League Cy Young Award voting in 2020. In 118 career appearances (60 starts), he is 17–24.
