Officers responding to a medical emergency at a Southwest Ranches mansion discovered Davis’ death inside, according to Davie Police authorities.
While investigators continue to look into Vontae Davis’ death at his South Florida home on Monday at the age of 35, friends and former teammates are paying tribute to him.

Police stated that foul play doesn’t seem to be involved, although the medical examiner’s examination has not yet revealed the cause of death.
The Miami Dolphins selected Davis, an Illinois native and cornerback, 25th overall in the 2009 NFL Draft. Davis went on to play for ten seasons in the league.
The NFL world was shocked to hear of his unexpected passing.
The Dolphins posted a statement on social media stating, “We are heartbroken by the sudden passing of former Dolphins CB Vontae Davis and extend our deepest condolences to his family & loved ones during this difficult time.”
Before being sold to the Indianapolis Colts just before the 2012 season, Davis spent three seasons as a player for Miami. He spent six seasons as a Colts player. In a statement, team owner Jim Irsay prayed for Davis’ family and posted a picture of Davis wearing a Colts jersey on social media.
