Given that Stephen Curry’s career is coming to an end, the Golden State Warriors need all the assistance they can get. Should things not go as planned, they may make some significant adjustments. Karl-Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves is a player who would be a suitable candidate for a significant shift.
In a story published on April 2, Bleacher Report’s Andy Bailey suggested the following four-way deal that would send Town to the Warriors.
The Warriors may not be able to return to that (top) level, but this move should bring them closer and give the starting five a younger roster.
The starting lineup for the Dubs would include Karl-Anthony Towns, a floor-spacing 4 in Rui Hachimura, Andrew Wiggins (unless they can find him another home), Curry, and Thompson (assuming they re-sign him).
He went on to detail Towns’ appeal to the Golden State.
Towns may need some time to get used to the Warriors’ strategy that emphasizes player and ball movement, but he has displayed flashes of playmaking ability. He averaged 4.2 assists per game in the four seasons before this one. Additionally, teams featuring both Curry and KAT would have incredible outside shooting potential.
In 2024, Towns will begin a four-year, $221 million deal with the Timberwolves.
According to Charania on April 2, McAfee’s X account said, “He’s out with a torn meniscus, but there is optimism he could be back before the end of the regular season, which is good news for the Timberwolves.”
On March 7, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN announced on his X account that Towns had sustained a meniscus injury.
Towns might play the Warriors in a first-round matchup if he makes a comeback. Although the Warriors would have playoff experience, the Timberwolves would enjoy homecourt advantage. The Warriors would need to win the play-in round first, though.
When Green got himself disqualified from the Warriors game against the Magic, the former NBA champion did not like what he was doing.
Perkins gave his reasoning for why he believes it would be better for the Warriors to split ways with Green on the March 29 edition of “First Take on ESPN.”
Perkins declared, “It’s time for the Warriors to part ways with Draymond Green.” “Steph Curry, Steve Kerr, Joe Lacob, and Mike Dunleavy will have that difficult talk during the offseason. Because you have to believe someone once they’ve shown you who they are.
Perkins went on to say that he thinks the Warriors players are sick of Green’s antics, going all the way back to when he hit Jordan Poole in 2022.
Perkins emphasized that Curry and Kerr “had Draymond Green’s back when the Jordan Poole incident happened.” “Then, Steph Curry again had his back this year with what he did with [Jusuf] Nurkic.”
