Atlanta’s quarterback play is one advantage that Smith has. Desmond Ridder’s incapacity to start in the NFL was virtually universally acknowledged by Falcons supporters. There was nothing redeeming about Ridder’s play, even with the awful playcalling. The Steelers are expecting Justin Fields or Russell Wilson to be a far superior quarterback than Ridder.
This season, it will be interesting to see how the Steelers manage their quarterback room. They made a radical change at the position, replacing Justin Fields and Russell Wilson with Mason Rudolph, Mitch Trubisky, and Pickett.
