JUST IN: Jets Are Warned Against Signing A $21 Million Quarterback: “Very Straightforward”

The New York Jets now have more options going into the 2024 NFL Draft thanks to all of the free agency transactions.

According to Joe Tansey of Bleacher Report, selecting a quarterback with the No. 10 overall choice is one major red button that the green and white shouldn’t push.

“The Jets don’t need a quarterback in the first round, as is abundantly clear. There is a chance, though, that the Jets would be enticed to plan for a quarterback after [Aaron] Rodgers. The Jets are in a position where Bo Nix and Michael Penix Jr. might be selected in the first round, according to Tansey’s explanation in a column that was published on Monday, April 8.

NY Jets fans are begging for Michael Penix Jr. after stellar Sugar Bowl performance

“Even though the Jets are still plagued by the struggles of their backup quarterbacks in 2023, they are not concerned about the future.”According to Spotrac, the No. 10 overall pick is expected to sign a $21.3 million rookie contract.Top Arguments Against the Jets Selecting Any of These QB Prospects

The Jets “will have the oldest quarterback room in the league” by 2024, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN.Tansey cited their ages as one of the main arguments against Nix and Penix being signed by the Jets.Penix is twenty-three, and he will turn twenty-four before the 2024 season begins. Nix, however, turned 24 years old in February.

Penix participated in six collegiate football seasons, spanning from 2018 to 2023. Nix participated in five collegiate football seasons between 2019 and 2023.

Experience is a desirable attribute, but NFL teams are more interested in upside. Given how long they’ve played, you could argue that you already know who Nix and Penix are.

The case against NY Jets taking a QB in first round of 2024 draft

“The duration of each player’s NFL career would be limited if they were to trail Rodgers for a minimum of one year.” The Jets should stay away from them even in the worst of circumstances since they are both prime players right now, according to Tansey.
Insider: Jets Have Completed Their Homework for This QB Class

Gang Green “have done quarterback work,” according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, who disclosed this information to Jets club reporter Eric Allen before to April’s draft.

In the first round, do they select one quarterback? I have no idea who will attend. “We know that can work if a top guy they really like is there and they could, oh, I don’t know, sit him for two years behind one of the greatest players ever,” Rapoport stated. Thus, if they have a favorite quarterback… Rodgers would probably approach things differently now than he did in the beginning of his career. The biggest victory would be if the Jets win one and it ends up being what Jordan Love is now in Green Bay.
