After spending a loan period at Leeds United, Brenden Aaronson has stated he would prefer to go permanently to Union Berlin this summer.
The American international acknowledged that he didn’t have much to say regarding his future but expressed gratitude to his loan club and said he would consider staying in Germany.
Nevertheless, he acknowledged that he had been following Leeds this year and advised them to keep aiming for promotion following a “fantastic” campaign.
“At the end of the day, it’s not my decision, but I have a great deal of respect for Union—the people, the way it’s constructed, and the beautiful family club they’ve created. They’ve done an incredible job.
I’ve been keeping a careful eye on Leeds; I know a lot of the guys there, and I get along well with most of them; they’re decent guys. I’ve been watching since they’ve had an amazing season, which has been enjoyable to watch.
“At the end of the season, good things are coming their way; they just need to keep pushing.”
The whereabouts of a number of Leeds loanees have come under intense scrutiny as the summer draws near; Max Wober, Rasmus Kristensen, and Diego Llorente, in particular, have all been the subject of several exit rumors.
Given the £4.2 million buyout option in his contract, it appears likely that Llorente will sign a permanent agreement to join Roma at the end of the current campaign, although Kristensen is more likely to stay at Elland Road.
Wober, meantime, appears certain to make the move from Leeds to Borussia Monchengladbach permanently; but, problems have surfaced with his loan club because of their financial circumstances, and this one appears certain to continue well into the summer.
Although Aaronson’s time in the Bundesliga has been quieter recently, his future will also be uncertain when the window opens because of his recent assertion that, despite his strong regard for Leeds, he would prefer to transfer permanently.
