A report by Jordan Raanan states that Jordan Phillips, a former defensive tackle with the Buffalo Bills, has signed with the New York Giants. While playing for the Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, and Arizona Cardinals, 31-year-old Phillips has carved out a prosperous NFL career.
Before seeing his role decline in 2018, Phillips, a 2015 NFL Draft second-round selection by the Dolphins, seemed to show signs of being a big player as a starting defensive tackle. After being waived not too long after, Phillips was claimed by the Bills.
After his initial stay in Orchard Park, New York, Phillips left a lasting impression. Thanks to his zeal and intensity in confronting the Bills Mafia, he became a fan favorite.
After participating in 28 games and starting nine of them, Phillips signed a lucrative free-agent deal with the Arizona Cardinals in 2020. In the 2019 season, he set career highs for himself and Buffalo with 9.5 sacks, 31 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, and 16 quarterback hits.
Due to many injuries and extended periods of being placed on Injured Reserve, Phillips’ time in Arizona was brief. Phillips signed back with Buffalo after being released after just two seasons. After playing in 26 games overall, including 10 starts, Phillips stayed with the Bills for the 2022 and 2023 NFL seasons. He never recovered the remarkable form that had been hiss, and injuries kept cutting into his playing time.
Jordan Phillips was a four-year player for the Buffalo Bills, appearing in fifty-four games (19 starts), recording forty-six solo tackles, twenty tackles for loss, twenty quarterback hits, ten pass defenses, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and thirteen and a half sacks.
