JUST IN: Packers Announced Signing Of This Major cornerback Worth…..

In two weeks, the 2024 NFL Draft will begin, and the Green Bay Packers will probably need assistance at cornerback. Nonetheless, the Packers managed to bolster their secondary on Wednesday by acquiring a player from the previous year’s draft class.

The signing of former New York Giants cornerback Gemon Green was announced by Green Bay. Following shoulder surgery, the former University of Michigan Wolverines defensive back was cleared, according to Bill Huber of Packer Central.

Packers sign former Giants CB Gemon Green

Green was selected by the Giants despite not being selected in the 2023 NFL Draft. Green was not included in the 53-man roster despite spending the summer in training camp with New York.

The 6-foot-1 cornerback played 42 games (24 starts) at the University of Michigan, recording 71 total tackles, 15 pass deflections, and one interception during his successful college career. When Green was voted All-Big Ten honorable mention in 2022, it was his greatest season with the Wolverines. In all, he recorded 20 tackles and four pass deflections.

The Packers need all the depth they can get because Eric Stokes has struggled with injuries for the past two seasons and Jaire Alexander will have an inconsistent 2023 campaign. This summer, Green won’t be in competition for a starting position.

Still, we witnessed last season how the Packers had to activate Corey Ballentine and Carrington Valentine due to injuries sustained in the secondary. As the NFL draft approached, Stokes, Keisean Nixon, and Alexander are expected to start at cornerback for Green Bay.
