With their pitching staff off to a rough start, the Braves offense has exploded, propelling them to a 10-5 start and a two-game lead in the NL East. Still, the wounds are beginning to mount up in clusters. After a foul ball struck his foot, Ozzie Albies suffered a toe injury that required surgery, Sean Murphy went down on Opening Day with an oblique injury. Spencer Strider recently had surgery to repair a damaged UCL.

The Braves second baseman was sore and hobbling after the game, but he appeared to be in good condition at the end. Before deciding what to do next, they’ll wait to see how he feels today.

 

The Braves have demonstrated early on that they possess the talent to bounce back from the loss of multiple key players, but even the strongest teams can be negatively impacted by three major injuries in the first three weeks of the season.

Spencer Strider, the best player in Atlanta, is out for the season. Although oblique injuries are difficult to treat and require a long time to cure, Sean Murphy is making progress. It might take him a month to come back.
