The first Bulldog to declare he was using the transfer portal this summer was former Georgia forward Jalen DeLoach. He was the second to reveal the location of his transfer on Tuesday.
After using the transfer site on April 8, DeLoach declared his transfer to Loyola. After just one season in Athens, the 6-foot-9 DeLoach is leaving for the north.

Jabri Abdur-Rahim, a former Georgia forward, committed to Providence the day before DeLoach made his decision.

In his one and only season at Georgia, DeLoach struggled with injuries early on but developed into a useful reserve player as the campaign progressed. This season, he averaged 3.6 points and 3.3 rebounds per game while playing in 32 games, making six starts. He played 12.9 minutes a game on average and shot 53.5% from the field.

On December 22, DeLoach scored nine points, a season high, against North Florida. In eight games this season, he had at least five rebounds; in the regular-season encounter with Wake Forest on November 10, he had a season-high seven rebounds.

DeLoach transferred from VCU to Georgia, where in 32 games played in the 2022–2023 season, he averaged 9.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game. As a sophomore, he scored more than ten points nineteen times, and on two separate occasions, he reached his career-high point total of nineteen.
VCU went 27-8 and won both the conference tournament and the Atlantic 10 regular season title with DeLoach’s assistance.

 

As a freshman in 2021–2022 DeLoach started one game and appeared in 31 others after coming off the bench. In addition to his 4.1 points and 3.7 rebounds per game average, he had the third-highest amount of shot blocks on the squad with 27.
In the 2021 class, DeLoach was a three-star recruit. He rejected offers from Georgia, South Carolina, Kansas State, and Ole Miss in favor of VCU.

DeLoach played at Atlanta’s The Skill Factory for a year after graduating. He shot 64% from the field and averaged around 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists per game while he was there in 2020–21.  At Berkmar High School in Lilburn, DeLoach completed his high school education.

As a senior in 2019–20, he contributed to the Patriots’ regional title win with an average of 15 points and 10 rebounds per game. He was an AAU basketball player for Team Huncho in Atlanta.

Before attending Berkmar, DeLoach played a key role in Gray Collegiate’s 2018–19 state championship victory in Columbia, South Carolina. At Georgia’s Islands High School, located on Whitemarsh Island, DeLoach began his high school education.

DeLoach was raised in an athletic household. His brother Kalen was a linebacker at Florida State, while his sister Taylor was an Ohio State track athlete.
