Tony Pulis, who applauded Norwich City’s choice to continue with manager David Wagner, believes the team will guarantee a play-off spot in the Championship. With just two games remaining in the regular season, Norwich’s recent outstanding form puts them in a fantastic position to secure that critical top six berth. Wagner has proven that Norwich was right to continue with him this season, demonstrating the value of giving managers time to turn things around. By the end of this season, Norwich City will have earned a spot in the Championship play-offs. Tony Pulis, who has commended the Canaries for sticking with manager David Wagner this season, says as much.
Wagner was appointed in January 2023 and is presently in his first full season as manager of Carrow Road. The Germans faced criticism earlier in the season when they lost nine league games in a row from September to November, dropping them to 17th place in the standings. That had prompted others to propose that the club fire Wagner. The 52-year-old has continued in his position, though, as Canaries Sporting Director Ben Knapper chose to continue working with the German in the face of growing criticism earlier on.
Norwich should have done more to qualify for the playoffs.
If Norwich maintains their current ranking and does not finish in the top six, it would come as a bit of a surprise.
The Canaries are playing excellently right now, and they should benefit from that going into these final two regular season games. Beyond, they have nothing left to play for against a Swansea club that has underperformed somewhat this season.
