Even though Norwich City’s team only managed a point in their season-ending home game against Swansea City, head coach David Wagner expressed his pride in his team’s performance.
“This was a really strong performance; I believe the draw was completely different from the one we saw a week ago. The guys have performed admirably, played fantastic football, and generated incredible opportunities,” Wagner remarked. We were on the attack and used a high line to defend. We were quite aggressive and observant, but regrettably not brutal or clinical. The only thing that requires our hands to be up is this. We only draw because we could have done better.
“We now accept this point. It’s fantastic that we haven’t lost at home since the beginning of the year, in my opinion.Regretfully, although we certainly deserved to win based on our performance, we sometimes don’t get what we deserve. This past home game was one that we would have loved to win.
But isn’t that how this league operates? Results have been shown; Leeds lost last night, while West Brom lost this morning. Results are not something you just get. With just one more Sky Bet Championship game remaining, Norwich moves up to fifth place and Swansea remains in 13th place in the standings.Swansea has shown me what I expected; they have their own strengths and played football with freedom, but let’s be honest that we didn’t win.
“Although we weren’t clinical enough, the performance was one which I really liked, especially after the last week where we were not at our best, where we were not, what we are normally are. “With their 16th and 13th goals for the Canaries, respectively, Josh Sargent and Gabriel Sara increased their individual season totals.
Jamie Paterson had given the Swans the lead, but both players scored late in the first half. “Today we were back on track, the goals came from two of our young players, who’ve been so influential throughout the season.”They also had three or four more obvious opportunities, which is what we often take advantage of, and we lost out on today. The team’s shift, as well as the way they worked and generated opportunities, was excellent.”
After being replaced in the second half, Ashley Barnes suffered an injury that limited her playing time to just 15 minutes during this afternoon’s match at Carrow Road. “He’s been having some Achilles issues for the entire week, and now he has a calf injury. To determine how serious it is, we must evaluate it.
“The effort from today was sufficient to get a point. We certainly deserve better, but we’re also keeping an eye on tonight’s game. “Obviously, after observing the other outcomes, I can attest to the difficulty of winning or even just collecting a point in the Championship, particularly at this point in the season. I am extremely proud of my players for their consistent performance and point accumulation, which has earned them a spot in the current standings. “We know at the moment the job isn’t done, but we are ready for the last game.”
