During their victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday, the Los Angeles Dodgers gave themselves a scare. Right-hander Tyler Glasnow, who has been their ace all season, was outstanding when he took the mound. Glasnow won thanks to a fantastic performance.
But it only lasted six innings until he had to leave the field because of hand cramps. Though it was unpleasant to see him suffer, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts assured reporters, including Los Angeles Times writer Jack Harris, that there is “no level of concern” over Glasnow’s injury. Over the course of his six innings, Glasnow was outstanding. In 95 pitches, he gave up just two hits and one earned run, struck out nine, and gave up three walks. The 30-year-old would have been out of the game after six innings and 95 pitches, but his hand cramps forced him to leave the game.
Though it’s reasonable to prepare for the worse given his history of injuries, hand cramps shouldn’t be a major concern. The right-hander is regarded as day-to-day, and the Atlanta Braves, an NL heavyweight, will be the target of his next start at home on Saturday.
Next weekend, we should anticipate seeing Glasnow on the mound and continuing his outstanding season. The right-hander has a 5-1 record, 2.72 ERA, 53 strikeouts through seven starts as well as a 43-inning 0.93 WHIP.
