Among the players on the injured list when the Los Angeles Dodgers opened the 2024 season were Dustin May, Tony Gonsolin, Clayton Kershaw, and Walker Buehler. Last month, Bobby Miller’s right shoulder irritation put him on the 15-day injured list, severely depleting their starting pitching depth.
During the second half of the season, Buehler is almost done with his rehab assignment, and both Kershaw and May might be activated from the 60-day injured list.
When Miller’s right shoulder MRI revealed no structural damage, doctors were hopeful and predicted that Miller’s absence would be brief.
Miller began playing catch but hasn’t yet thrown off a mound, May might start this month, and Kershaw is getting closer to bullpen sessions, according to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic:
Kershaw has extended to long toss and progressively raised the ante when playing catch. Although Kershaw and the Dodgers haven’t given an exact date, it’s generally believed that he might make a comeback from surgery on his left shoulder in July. May’s recuperation after his surgeries to repair his right flexor tendon and undergo a Tommy John revision for an ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) injury has long suggested that he could make a comeback in August.
Bobby Miller is coming back when?
Landon Knack, who earned his third career start on Tuesday, gets an opportunity because to Miller’s injury. When the Dodgers are certain that Buehler is ready to be activated, Knack may be a good candidate to be optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City. A bullpen session and eventually facing hitters before to a possible rehab assignment are not possible for Miller’s recuperation until he starts throwing off a mound. He therefore estimates that he will not be back for at least two weeks.
