Birmingham City has made its first significant transfer choice since hiring Gary Rowett to serve as their temporary manager. Ben Beresford, a striker, has been called back from his Gloucester City loan. When he signed on last winter, the loan agreement was originally only supposed to continue for one month, but back in February, it was extended to cover the whole season.
After spending November 2023 with the Tigers, the 19-year-old is back with the Blues till the remainder of the season. As of right now, Beresford might be qualified to play for the first team. Players who are loaned out to teams outside of the EFL can advance till any point before late March. The club noted in a statement released on Friday afternoon: “Striker Ben Beresford’s outstanding loan with the team has come to an end as the club can report that he has returned to parent club @BCFC. Ben, thank you and best of luck.”
Their highest scorer this season was Beresford, who had 13 goals across all competitions. His recall has dealt Gloucester, who are trying to maintain their National League North status, a serious blow. With only seven games remaining in the season, they are nine games outside of safety after being involved in a relegation struggle.
He shared the field with Zach Jeacock at TigerTurf Stadium; Jeacock was with Birmingham until his release in February. The forward’s deal with Blues runs through the summer of 2025, and joined the team on a scholarship from Basford United, spending the previous four seasons with them. In other developments, this weekend’s matchup between the under-18 team and Swansea City is scheduled. On Saturday, March 23, the youthful Blues take on Swansea at their Landore training base at 1:00 pm in the Professional Development League. Birmingham leads the North table going into the game and has won six of its previous seven games.
