DJ Chark Jr. was signed by the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday, giving their wide receiver group some further depth. With Carolina last season, Chark recorded 35 receptions for 525 yards and five receiving touchdowns, which led the team. Before moving to Detroit in 2022, he played four seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars after being selected in the second round by Jacksonville in 2018.
2019 saw Chark have his greatest season with 73 receptions for 1,008 yards and 8 touchdowns. After the Chargers moved Keenan Allen to Chicago in March and fired Mike Williams, wide receiver is still a work in progress. In addition to selecting Cornelius Johnson in the seventh round and Brenden Rice in the second, they also selected Ladd McConkey. With four seasons under his belt, Joshua Palmer is the group’s most seasoned player; Quentin Johnston, the first-round selection from the previous year, had a difficult debut campaign.
