SAD NEWS: Phil Parkinson explains reasons why the captian is leaving due to….

Wrexham captain Luke Young left the team after six years, and Phil Parkinson has finally disclosed why. Being promoted comes with the unpleasant reality of saying farewell to the players who contributed significantly to the journey. Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds’ initial team members are gradually being replaced by new Wrexham players. Eight more Reds players, including Luke Young, Aaron Hayden, and Ben Tozer, have left the Racecourse Ground since the team’s promotion to League One.

Making the decision to part with captain Young was probably the most heartbreaking for the team’s supporters. It would have been a very tough one to make, especially because each player had special meaning. After joining the team in the summer of 2018, the 31-year-old from Torquay United has become an important member of the squad, making over 250 games in six years.

Phil Parkinson explains his decision to let Luke Young go.
In each of his five National League seasons, Young made at least 37 appearances; however, his playing time diminished when Wrexham advanced to the football league. Throughout the majority of the League Two season, Phil Parkinson favored a midfield trio consisting of George Evans, Andy Cannon, and Elliot Lee, hence the midfield metronome only made 12 starts.

There should be a ton of League Two bids for Luke Young.

Young has demonstrated throughout his tenure at Wrexham that he is more than capable of working at the League Two level. Unfortunately, the caliber of players ahead of him restricted his prospects in Wales, but he could expect plenty of offers from fourth-tier teams searching for a captain and midfield virtuoso.

With an average of 82% pass completion, three major opportunities created, and 2.6 balls recovered per game, the former Plymouth Argyle player displayed his class in the center of the court. With nearly a century of League Two appearances under his belt as a model professional, most teams in the division would be crazy to pass up on Wrexham’s captain. He’s the kind of player you want in the engine room because he’s fantastic at winning the ball and neat in possession.
