To replace Mendy in the starting lineup or to challenge him, Wrexham is searching for a new left wing-back. This has spurred interest in Tom Pearce of Wigan. Although he would be an excellent addition, Louie Sibley of Derby would provide better value. Sibley is presently negotiating a new contract at Pride Park. He just won promotion to the Championship with the Rams.
Although Wrexham should match their League One rivals in their pursuit of the 22-year-old by making their own move, Rotherham has already expressed interest in the player on a free transfer. Although Wrexham isn’t known for signing younger players, Sibley would be a far superior wing-back than Mendy.
Louie Sibley is Phil Parkinson’s best bet.
Sibley played as a winger, central midfielder, and most recently, a wing-back, during his career that began as an offensive midfielder. The “outstanding” Englishman is allowed to run wild up and down the left side in Paul Warne’s 3-5-2 formation, giving his teammates ammunition into the box.
Sibley would be a wonderful fit in Parkinson’s 5-3-2 system since he scored six goals and provided six assists in all competitions last season. Parkinson, a left wing-back for Wrexham, urges them to shoot wide and high, which would delight the Derby academy alumnus in the closing third.
He is a player that embodies all the qualities you could ask for: he is honest, diligent, and gifted with a left foot. Sibley, who has made 173 appearances for Derby overall and 80 in League One, is the player with the most first-team appearances for someone his age. Wrexham would be lucky to get a highly versatile player who has won promotions, and they should look into doing so to fill a number of positions.
