JUST IN: Cardinals confirm that, The 2017 significant error can be rectified before…..

Luis Robert Jr. is one of the players who the Chicago White Sox are willing to trade. The 2017 error of the St. Louis Cardinals not making a larger offer can be corrected.

The Chicago White Sox have opened up to teams about a deconstruction despite being at a record-breaking 13-game losing skid and sitting at 15-48, the bottom of Major League Baseball. Tommy Pham, an outfielder, pitchers Erick Fedde, Garret Crochet, Tim Hill, and Michael Kopech are among the players available for trade. However, Luis Robert Jr. is a player whom St. Louis Cardinals supporters may find interesting. When the 2017 season started, the Cardinals were a contender to sign Cuban Robert Jr., but they were unable to match the Chicago White Sox’s offer of compensation.

Though he has a long history of injuries, Robert Jr. has been a productive bat for the White Sox. Since making his debut in 2020, he has kept his OPS+ at 100 or above every year for five seasons. 2023 was a fantastic season for Robert Jr.; he was an All-Star and Silver Slugger. My colleague Josh Jacobs came up with this trade idea after the 2023 season, centered around Nolan Gorman and Tink Hence. The idea was to keep Jordan Walker with the Cardinals, but Walker’s name will be discussed as long as he remains in the minors through June.

Additionally, Gorman has grown to be an essential component of the Cardinals’ attack this season, so dealing him now would be a grave mistake.

The White Sox may still decide not to sell Luis Robert, Jr. based on this alone, but St. Louis will have to give up a young prospect or two. Here, it’s Chase Davis and Tink Hence. To make amends for their 2017 error and get Robert Jr., Mike Girsch and John Mozeliak will need to give up a prospect they hope to keep.
