Although Wrexham has made no secret of their desire to bring Okonkwo into the fold in order to advance into League One, they are also aware that rival teams are showing interest in him due to his current skill set and room for growth.

After assisting Wrexham in achieving promotion from League Two, Young was let go by the team. In response to a question on whether he could see Okonkwo back in North Wales, he told the Rob Ryan Red Podcast: “At the time, he probably had no idea whether it would actually happen or not. However, you have the love and gratitude of the supporters who are yelling “one more year” at you to stay. Whether it happens or not, you have the support of your followers; if it does, great. Even if it doesn’t, they will still adore you for everything you’ve accomplished and contributed to.

Although Okonkwo left a top-tier team, it has been speculated that his pay may be a point of contention for Wrexham. Nevertheless, the Red Dragons made a “big offer” to Conor Hourihane, a former Republic of Ireland international, and Reynolds and McElhenney will continue to provide the money for big-name acquisitions.
