JUST IN: Reds confirm this top sensational pitcher injury as a major setback

Due to a blister on a pitching hand finger, Cincinnati Reds left-handed starter Nick Lodolo was placed on the 15-day injured list on Tuesday.

The modification took effect on June 24.
On Sunday, Lodolo pitched despite having a blister against the Boston Red Sox. His four runs allowed, three of which were earned, tied a season high. In the 7-4 victory for Boston, Lodolo recorded three strikeouts and a season-high four walks in 4 2/3 innings. “It really affected him mostly on the curveball,” Reds manager David Bell said after the game on Sunday. “He could still throw a few solid ones. That was a very good effort right there, even without his best pitches. For him, today was a little bit more difficult.

In his 12 starts, Lodolo is 8-3 with a 2.96 ERA and 73 strikeouts in 70 innings pitched. The Reds sent right-hander Yosver Zulueta back to Triple-A Louisville in a matching move. Lodolo has been on the IL three times this season. With a left calf problem, he started the season on the injured list and made his debut on April 13. On May 15, he was put back on the IL due to an injury in his left groin. Before suffering a stress reaction in his left tibia, Lodolo made seven starts for Cincinnati in 2023.
