JUST IN: Giants revealed the reason why Saquon Barkley was trade to the Eagles

It would be an understatement to say that a large number of New York Giants supporters were disappointed by Saquon Barkley’s loss in free agency. For New York fans, the situation is made even more difficult by the fact that they lost him to the rival Philadelphia Eagles.

Veteran defensive end Brandon Graham of the Eagles is able to express sympathy to Giants fans who are still bitter about losing their franchise, despite his own happiness that Barkley is now in Midnight Green. Graham reportedly noted, “That’s like us losing our top guy, so it sucked for the Giants fans.” “I know Saquon is excited for this season, but I also know that business is business.”

Before joining the Eagles this offseason, Barkley played for the Giants for the first six years of his career. In that span, he was selected for two Pro Bowls and won the 2018 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award. Barkley, who is only 27 years old, should still have a lot of gas left in the tank despite having struggled with injuries throughout his career. The fact that the Eagles and Giants are both in the NFC East makes things more difficult for New York supporters, who will now have to watch their team play against Barkley twice a season. The teams’ first meeting in 2024 is scheduled for Sunday, October 20, at MetLife Stadium. Graham is anticipating an enthusiastic response from Giants supporters when that game comes around.

“That will be similar to how, do you recall how [Terrell Owens] traveled to Dallas and was heckled?” Regarding the former wide receiver for the Eagles who joined the Cowboys, Graham stated. It will undoubtedly be one of those situations. I am aware that Barkley probably didn’t want to have to choose that course of action.

There are extremely high expectations for Barkley in Philadelphia on a national scale. After all, he became a part of an offensive line that also featured wide receivers DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown, along with quarterback Jalen Hurts. Giants supporters will be even more incensed if Barkley can live up to those expectations and lead the Eagles to a deep playoff run, given the dire circumstances facing their own team. According to a recent survey, the Giants are the least preferred trade destination in the whole NFL.
