One trade proposition strengthens the Detroit Red Wings’ case as they attempt to put an end to their rebuild and go to the postseason.
One user suggested a trade that would have saw the Red Wings acquire Mike Matheson from the Montreal Canadiens through the new tool PuckGM on the website PuckPedia.

Detroit would strengthen their defense by acquiring Matheson, who is about to start the seventh year of an eight-year, $39 million contract, making the trade pitch an intriguing one. Matheson has been in Montreal for the past two years, and he projects to be the left defenseman on the Red Wings’ second line in Detroit. Additionally, Matheson would provide the blue line some additional veteran presence. Matheson participated in 82 games during the previous season, tallying 62 points with 11 goals and 51 assists. The Canadiens would release Matheson from his contract so that their younger defenseman could take his place.
