Jonathan Rowe, a target for Leeds United, is apparently getting close to leaving Norwich City for Marseille. Following Crysencio Summerville’s transfer to West Ham United, the 21-year-old has been heavily linked to a move to Elland Road, with rumors of interest from the Whites emerging. Marseille, a team in Ligue 1, has also been said to be interested, and it looks like they are taking the lead in the competition to sign Rowe.
Over the weekend, Marseille submitted a third bid for Rowe, according to John Percy of The Telegraph. The agreement is thought to involve an initial £13.5 million loan with a purchase obligation. There are rumors that talks are continuing, and it’s anticipated that a deal will be reached before the summer transfer window closes. It would be another setback for Leeds, who have had a challenging summer.
In addition to Summerville, Leeds has lost Georginio Rutter to Brighton & Hove Albion, Glen Kamara to Rennes, and Archie Gray to Tottenham Hotspur. Leeds is under increasing pressure to bolster their roster as the window nears its close. Last season, Rowe had a breakout season at Carrow Road, turning into a talisman for the Canaries as they stormed to the Championship play-off semifinals.
