The Philadelphia Eagles have been rolling throughout their season. They wrapped up week 14 with a close win over the Carolina Panthers. During that matchup, their passing game struggled which led to frustration among the team. This offense is filled with star players such as A.J. Brown, Saquon Barkley, and Jalen Hurts. However, it is important to maintain solid depth on offense especially when injuries start to occur. While this team is star-studded, there are two Eagles Players that need to make an impact on offense.Jahan Dotson was acquired by the Philadelphia Eagles in the off-season. The 24-year-old was traded from the Washington Commanders for a third-round pick. At first, the trade resulted in Eagles fans being excited for the season. The team finally picked up that third wide receiver option that they desperately needed. Fans also noticed that this would also take some pressure off of A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith. Dotson has not lived up to those expectations in his first season with the team. Dotson does not have more than two catches in any game so far this season. The most yards he has put up in one game is 36. His performances have left fans disappointed as they hope for a resurgence during the final stretch of the season.
Next Man Up After Dallas Goedert
Grant Calcaterra was the 198th overall pick in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL draft. Since the start of his career, he has been behind Dallas Goedert on the depth chart. However, Goedert was placed on IR before the Eagles matchup against the Carolina Panthers. While his injury is not season-ending, this allows Goedert to become fully healthy for the playoffs. This also allowed Calcaterra to become the starting tight end for week 14. While Calcaterra only had three catches for 16 yards, he made one of those catches count. He caught his first career touchdown pass from Jalen Hurts. This has been Calcaterra’s best season yet as the backup for Goedert. His best performance came in week six against the Clevland Browns. He had four catches for 67 yards. Knowing the lengthy injury history of Goedert, Calcaterra hopes to keep on coming up big in games where Goedert is not availableWill
They Step Up?
Many things will happen if Jahan Dotson and Grant Calcaterra make constant impacts on offense.
It will help keep the Philadelphia Eagles win streak alive as they battle it out with games remaining against the Steelers, Commanders, Cowboys, and Giants. The first seed is still up for grabs in the NFC and the Eagles know the importance of having a first-round bye. They can also help the Eagles overcome their slow starts on offense at the start of games. This has become very common throughout the season and it has caused fans to be very frustrated. The Eagles want to make sure all positions on offense are running smoothly if they want to go on a run in the playoffs.
