Arsenal and Chelsea have entered a three-horse race with Premier League champions Manchester City, as they look to sign 22-year-old forward Manfred Ugalde. As per reports, the Spartak Moscow striker has a release clause of €25 million, and the English clubs are prepared to battle for his signature.
Ugalde has been a shining light for the Russian giants this season, thanks to his rather remarkable performances. In 18 Premier Liga games so far, he has scored 15 goals and provided three assists, racking up an average of a goal contribution per game.
His quality in the final third has placed him on the radar of clubs in the Premier League. According to TBR Football (via The Hard Tackle), Arsenal and Chelsea may push for the striker in the January transfer window. However, they will be cautious about Manchester City’s interest.
The Gunners have been on the hunt for a striker in recent seasons. Despite signing Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz, they are searching for a pure striker who could potentially drive them to the Premier League title. While they have been linked to options like Viktor Gyokeres and Alexander Isak, a move for Ugalde could be on the cards instead.
The Blues are also looking to sign a striker, but the report notes that they are more interested in making a purchase during the summer transfer window. They have their sights on Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap, but a move for Ugalde could also be in the works.
Arsenal look to sign Chelsea outcast this January
As per reports, Arsenal are looking to sign Chelsea outcast Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in the January transfer window. The midfielder impressed at Leicester City last season, playing 44 Championship games and helping the Foxes return to the Premier League with manager Enzo Maresca.
When the Blues signed Maresca, the head coach was quick to move for Dewsbury-Hall, with the duo reuniting at Stamford Bridge in the summer. However, life in London has not been pleasant for the 26-year-old. He has made just five Premier League appearances, combining a total of 55 minutes.
Chelsea are prepared to let him leave, despite only just signing him for £30 million in the summer. This has sparked interest from Arsenal, and according to CaughtOffside (via FootballTransfers), a move for the midfielder could be in the works.
The Gunners have done recent business with the Blues, signing Raheem Sterling on loan in the summer, after the winger was deemed surplus to requirements. Based on these reports, Dewsbury-Hall could make a similar move across London.
