Recently, the Los Angeles Dodgers gave a significant update on Walker Buehler’s injuries. Manager Dave Roberts said that Buehler pitched four innings in a mock game on Monday. Buehler hasn’t pitched in a real game since 2022 because to a second Tommy John surgery, as reported by Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times.
Buehler has spent the last few weeks putting in a lot of effort to make a comeback. Buehler isn’t sure when he will be returning, but it looks like he’s about to start a rehab assignment. If all goes according to plan, the Dodgers may announce a rehab assignment after closely monitoring his upcoming bullpen session.
It’s clear that Dodgers supporters want Buehler back as quickly as possible. Once more, this pitcher has undergone two Tommy John surgery. Los Angeles won’t send him back right away.
The most crucial thing is that Buehler be prepared for the postseason. Obviously, that’s a long way off, and he should be back well before October. However, the Dodgers will make every effort to assist him in gradually returning to pitching reliable innings as a starter in Major League Baseball.
When Buehler’s rehab assignment occurs, it will be very important to keep an eye on it. Pitching in a game with fans is a different situation than throwing many bullpens and simulating games.
Before returning to the starting lineup in Los Angeles, Buehler will probably make several starts in the minor leagues.
Buehler had made past references to his expected return from injury.
“Man, it’s been a long time. It’s been a minute since I got hurt in June of that year, Buehler stated in February, as reported by SportsNet LA. “I’m glad we made the effort to return last year; it was well worth it.” But I believe that, from an organizational and personal standpoint, we made the right choice. I feel well and am prepared to travel. We want to be really good at the end, and I realize it will probably be a little late to start. That is everyone’s objective.
The Dodgers’ regular season of 2024 has officially begun. Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Tyler Glasnow both got off to early starts in games against the San Diego Padres in South Korea.
As pitchers like Buehler, Clayton Kershaw, and Dustin May recover from injury, how will the rotation as a whole appear?
Leading the charge will be Yamamoto and Glasnow. Bobby Miller was always guaranteed a spot in the rotation because of his ace-caliber talent. Through Dodgers reporter Kirsten Watson, Dave Roberts has announced that James Paxton and Gavin Stone will complete the pitching staff.
After other starters start to return from injury, Paxton and Stone will need to continue playing well to maintain their rotation spots. Walker Buehler will undoubtedly be given the opportunity to start games after he finishes his assignment for rehabilitation.
