Although Jonathan Rowe found it difficult to conceal his disappointment over his hamstring injury, he has promised to return to Norwich City stronger than before.

After suffering a “serious” hamstring injury in the closing moments of the Canaries’ 2-2 draw with QPR at Loftus Road last Saturday, the winger will likely miss several months of action.

Although David Wagner insisted that no surgery was necessary, the loss of Norwich’s top scorer comes at a crucial juncture in their Championship campaign.

Rowe had been having a breakthrough campaign at Carrow Road, and he has been spending the previous few days in London visiting family in order to come to terms with the loss.

“To be honest, I’m still having trouble understanding it,” a frustrated Rowe admitted to City’s media outlets. “Towards the business end of the season, injuries occur at one of the worst possible periods.

“Especially considering how much work the team and I have put in to get here, and how much we have accomplished together.”

“Hopefully, I can get back to where I was and even better before the season ends. I’m going to work to get back in shape.” I’m going to give it everything I’ve got in the gym, treat my recovery seriously, and watch how soon my hamstring heals.

We currently have a strong run of results.

We can maintain that, in my opinion, to guarantee our spot in the playoffs. After that, I aim to contribute in some small way to the work the team has already done to reach our final objective.”

Rowe was speaking following his receipt of the January Goal of the Month award for his game-winning goal during their 1-0 triumph against Hull earlier in the month.

“Despite the strange situation I find myself in due to my injury, I am thankful. Seeing the absurdity of it all at this moment is a pleasant positive.

“I tried to be a little selfless and look for Josh Sargent, but the defender did a good job of closing him down. I completed the remaining work on my own, and happily it entered the back of the net.

“The finish seems more instinctive to me. I didn’t give the entire move much thought. You can’t coach that, in my opinion.”
