After winning eight of their past nine games, the Los Angeles Lakers have been on a roll lately, positioning themselves to move up in the Western Conference.
Despite having a winning record, the Lakers have been trapped in the ninth place; but, over the past week, they have received assistance as teams like the Sacramento Kings and New Orleans have dropped out of the standings after repeated losses.
Los Angeles needs to win all five of their remaining games in the 2023–24 NBA season in order to advance.
Currently, in order for the Lakers to advance to the postseason, they would need to win two games in the Play-In Tournament.
If they jump up to the eighth or seventh seed, they would just need to win one game, which would transform the situation.
According to Michael Corvo of ClutchPoints, head coach Darvin Ham stressed that his team’s performance in winning its own games is what matters most, not the standings.
Though Ham is correct in saying that the postseason race is meaningless unless Los Angeles wins games, fans have been excitedly following the standings as it gets closer.
Recent performances by LeBron James and Anthony Davis, along with those of D’Angelo Russell, Austin Reaves, and Rui Hachimura, have been among their best.
Any team facing the Lakers in the first round would have a frightening opponent, so it will be intriguing to watch where they finish in the standings.
