JUST IN Not good at all, Southampton confirm that major striker decide to leave the club due to…….

Goztepe are interested in signing striker Paul Onuachu from Southampton this summer. That’s according to a report from Turkish broadcaster NTV Spor, who say the club believe they may have an advantage when it comes to agreeing a contract with the Saints.

Following the club’s relegation from the Premier League to the Championship, Onuachu was loaned out of Southampton in the summer of 2023 after failing to make an impression at St Mary’s. After making that transfer, the striker joined Trabzonspor on loan for the remainder of the current campaign, moving to Turkey.

With 20 appearances across all competitions for the team since that move, the 29-year-old has contributed four assists and 12 goals to his tally. Since then, rumors have circulated indicating Southampton is looking to sell and that Trabzonspor wants to keep Onuachu, but would prefer a new loan arrangement.

It appears that another Turkish team may seek to pursue the Nigerian international on their own.
Goztepe enthusiastic on Paul Onuachu
As per this newest report, Goztepe have now joined the competition to sign Onuachu from the Saints this summer.

The club have just secured promotion back to the Turkish top-flight, and are apparently targeting the Southampton man as they look to make their mark in the transfer window before returning to that level. It’s also said that because Goztepe and Southampton are both owned by Sport Republic, they might believe they have an advantage over the other in the race to sign Onuachu. Southampton will undoubtedly have a chance to advance to the Premier League through the play-offs this season since they are slated to finish fourth in the Championship.

Depending on the outcomes of those three teams’ final regular-season games on Saturday afternoon, they will face either Norwich City, West Brom, or Hull City in the semifinals.

Against Leeds United, who will be hoping that Ipswich Town makes a mistake to give them a chance to grab the second automatic promotion slot, the Saints’ regular season comes to a conclusion at Elland Road.

Southampton is relieved by Goztepe’s Paul Onuachu interest.
It seems to you that word of this interest in Onuachu will be much welcomed in St Mary’s. It appears that Southampton wants to release the striker as soon as the market opens this summer.
