Major player for the Philadelphia 76ers of the National Basketball Association (NBA), Julius Erving, popularly known as “Dr. J,” passed away. Born on February 22, 1950, Erving is regarded as one of the all-time greats in basketball. From 1973 until 1980, he played seven seasons with the 76ers. In 1977 and 1980, he guided the team to two NBA titles during this time.
Being a versatile player, Erving was able to score from both inside and outside the paint. With the exception of his rookie season, he averaged 20.2 points per game while playing for the Sixers, and he was selected as an NBA All-Star each year.
