Phil Parkinson only needs to strengthen the club’s solid foundation because it already has a number of League One-ready players, such as Paul Mullin, Andy Cannon, Elliot Lee, and Eoghan O’Connell. Wrexham wants to strengthen in multiple positions, and a number of players are on their radar. Three standout candidates are Macaulay Langstaff of Notts County, Marc Leonard of Brighton, and Jason Kerr of Wigan Athletic. Parkinson is also looking for a new left-back to complement or replace Jacob Mendy, and Tom Pearce is a target for that role.

Pearce was one of the three Wigan players who were connected to a move, according to a report earlier this month that Wrexham was interested in signing. Together with Josh Magennis and Stephen Humphrys, two attackers Parkinson has also added to his shortlist, the 26-year-old was released by the Latics. For Shaun Maloney’s team, Pearce appeared in 28 games in all competitions, scoring twice and dishing out four assists from left back.

Known for his quickness down the left wing, which has earned him the nickname “dangerous,” the Englishman is a gifted chance-maker. Pearce has demonstrated his ability as a creative force with 13 assists in 72 League One outings, according to Transfermarkt. Using his magical left foot to give Wigan’s assault an additional dimension, the former Leeds United player may accomplish the same thing at Wrexham and unseat Mendy in the process.
