First baseman for the Los Angeles Dodgers Freddie Freeman is not with the team as he attends to his son’s illness. According to manager Dave Roberts, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports that Roberts expects his absence to last the whole Padres series. The Dodgers and Freeman have not specified when he will return.
Against the Houston Astros on Friday, Freeman missed his first game of the season. Maximus, his three-year-old son, most certainly has transient synovitis, based on what his wife Chelsea posted on Instagram. He visited the emergency department, and early on Friday morning, he was let go. Chelsea claims that the family’s problems started when they were in Texas for the MLB All-Star Game.
After being added to the Emergency Family List, Freeman will miss three games, which he has already missed. Hunter Feduccia, a catcher, was brought up from AAA Oklahoma City in the equivalent move. The team, which concludes their series with the Padres on Wednesday, is put on hold due to the circumstances back in Los Angeles. Following their trip to San Diego, the Dodgers will play three games in Oakland before hosting the Phillies in a series on August 5.
