Under Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, Wrexham has a great hiring strategy that has aided in their ascent up the EFL ladder and into League One in a short period of time. The Red Dragons signed nine players during the summer transfer window of 2024 in preparation for their return to the English football third division.
In order to cover a few gaps in their roster after those signings, Wrexham signed two free players in October. After leaving Bolton Wanderers the previous season, Jon Dadi Bodvarsson was signed for nothing to cover a front-row void left by star scorer Jack Marriott’s long-term injury. In other news, George Evans will be out for a long time, so Wrexham signed Matty James to fill in in the middle of midfield.
Wrexham supporters message Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney over Matty James’ transfer.
In his short time in Wales, the 33-year-old has performed admirably; Phil Parkinson has called James “outstanding.” Fans have now gone to social media to call on Reynolds and McElhenney to extend the former Bristol City player’s contract, which now expires on January 1st, after James was once again outstanding in Tuesday’s victory over Lincoln City.
