Despite Alex Leatherwood, a former Alabama All-American, not participating in any of the NFL’s 13 games this season, the Los Angeles Chargers cut him from
their practice squad on Tuesday. In order to give wide receiver Dez Fitzpatrick a roster spot, the Chargers cut Leatherwood. Prior to being cut on Thursday, Fitzpatrick was also a part of the Los Angeles practice squad.
Fitzpatrick, however, was quickly brought back by the Chargers due to wide receiver injuries. Despite his inexperience, wide receiver Ladd McConkey is Los Angeles’ top receiver in 2024. However, he missed Sunday’s 19–17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs due to a knee. An injury to his finger caused wide receiver Jalen Reagor to leave Sunday’s game. For every game, two players from the practice squad can be promoted to the active roster by each NFL team.
